Why is miguel cabrera fat
Login or Subscribe. Yes, given the HUGE! Reply to Richie. Reply to newsense. Reply to nada I'd also like to point out that Cabrera's initial injury last year occurred while playing 3rd and in the midst of playing 7 straight games on fieldturf.
Reply to omicron. Reply to pandroid. Yes, this is true, hence a large portion of the MLB population would technically be considered obese by some BMI charts.
Maybe it's time for us to use BP's status as a credentialed outlet to do something about the lack of publicly available body fat data. I'll request daily press passes for you if you bring your own calipers. Reply to bornyank1.
I think it is obvious that fat people are going to have shorter careers, since, by inference, they are out of shape. Many Royals fans are already wondering if this is an issue with Billy Butler and all one needs to do is take a look at the end of Cecil Fielder 's career to know it was an issue with him much like it will also affect his son.
I think CC Sabathia is another player that will ultimately "fat" his way out of the game as well. Anybody reading this know an old, fat and obese person? I don't. They don't exist much like fat, old, great baseball players that are still playing.
Billy Butler, to my eye, already looks like he can no longer get around on a good fastball. He looks slow--because he is fat. His nickname with Royals fans is already "Billy Gutler" and he doesn't even turn 28 until next week! Reply to rbtgt3. Is it possible to look at changes in BMI to predict injuries? I'd guess that someone who put on or possibly lost a lot of weight would be more injury prone.
Of course, the self reporting problem probably kills any possibility of that working. Reply to iolair Baseball has a rich history of heavy hitters, from Babe Ruth to Prince Fielder. But Cabrera doesn't aspire to that. The statistical website baseball-reference. All are Hall of Famers. He does things so easily. He adjusts to pitchers so quickly. To me, that's incredible, because the hardest thing to do in sports is hit. It appears that for him, it isn't.
He was an All-Star at 21 and became a team leader at 22, when Florida's veteran players were traded en masse. In a game last year, he reached out and got the winning hit even though the pitcher was trying to intentionally walk him. By the end of the season, Cabrera was averaging. Venezuela's signature fast food is the arepa, a cornmeal pocket stuffed with a savory filling, usually grilled in a light coating of oil.
Depending on the filling, a snack of arepas can pack calories or more. The arepa, rather than hard cheese, is Cabrera's weakness.
You have to respectfully listen to advice. But right now I'm feeling fine. Hopefully, it doesn't affect me in the future. When asked about Cabrera, several executives for other teams mention his reputation for enjoying South Florida's abundant night life.
Cabrera says he spends most of his free time with his wife, Rosangel, and 1-year-old daughter, also Rosangel. When you're a superstar, it probably gets magnified a little bit. Then, under the hot Florida sun, Dorante hit Cabrera hundreds of ground balls until the kid nearly collapsed. Cabrera's goal: to get down to the pounds that is supposed to be the ideal weight for a man his height. Cabrera's locker is just a few feet away; he is, literally, a kid in a candy store. Cabrera's zone rating -- the percentage of balls fielded by a player in his particular area -- has decreased from a high of.
Last year, Marlins lefty Scott Olsen criticized him for playing lackadaisical defense. Olsen later apologized. He's never going to be an Adonis. He's never going to be body beautiful. Yea he can still hit but his defense will just suck it up.
I see this offseason he will lose a crap load of weight and be good to go I saw a couple mentions of Miggy being fat on here a while ago and figured it was typical excessive criticism thanks to the anonymity of the internet. Due to not watching any highlight shows Sportscenter and Baseball Tonight suck I hadn't seen him so far this season, I saw a picture of him the other day, and I did a double take.
He is seriously FAT. It's getting to the point where if he doesn't start working out more or cutting back on food he's easily going to be Most people gain weight in their late teens early 20's but that's mostly from filling out. Your metabolism doesn't really slow down until a while later, so if he's gaining weight at this pace now it's only going to get worse. I'm starting to think that since everything just comes this guy naturally, maybe he feels he doesn't have to work at.
Probably takes the whole winter off. It's scary But like you said, this much weight gain at this age is sad. This boy has some chunk on his trunk, no doubt I'm not sure how he got it, but he better lay off "something" twinkies, brownies, ice cream, spanish rice, whatever or start running extra laps during spring training.
Wait a second, don't "bills" usually mean pounds? In this case, he reported to spring training at 26, pounds. Now that is a fat man. I've read things that have said he doesn't have a great work ethic, but not being anywhere near the situation and judging by his numbers I really don't know. That said, he may be working out in the off-season but it has to be strictly weights maybe 12 oz curls? I'd think it would start to affect his ability to get a huge pay-day after arbitration if he doesn't get his act together.
The biggest concern to me outside of the obvious base running and defense is the unnecessary stress he's putting on his joints. I have a pretty physical job, but I'm not a big guy by any means I'm at lbs. A year ago I weighed lbs, the most I've ever weighed in my life, and it was incredible how clear the difference was between the two weights and only 10 lb.
My back was sore more often, and hurt more when it got sore. My knees started feeling stiffer in the mornings, and overall I just felt much more soreness and pain everywhere.
He must be feeling it already and I hope he drops the weight, because he's too talented to be ruined by weight troubles. His health after baseball could be affected if he's not careful. Just wait until your knees start going bad I hurt my left knee years ago But I'm an old man so that has a little to do with it too.
